Jagti residents protest against closure of link road

JAMMU, Jan 6: A large number of Jagti residents today staged a protest against closure of Tanda-Simblelehar link road for local public by IIM Jammu authorities.
The protesters said that a small stretch of road falling in the area acquired for establishment of IIM Jammu is going to be closed for public use in near future, thereby forcing the public to go via 4-lane National Highway having distance nearly 4Kms for their day to day activities.
They said that the matter was also brought to the notice of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu earlier and they assured the locals that said road will not be closed for locals.
They added that two schools, two religious places namely Kuldev Sthan and a Peer Baba besides Government dispensary and Village Panchayat Ghar are falling on both ends of the said road.
They have also appealed the Lt Governor to rethink the unilateral decision for closing the road connectivity and pass on necessary directions to the concerned authorities in the interest and convenience of the locals.
Those who were present in the protest included Ayabha Jamwal, Sarpanch halqa Jagti, Puran Singh, Lamberdar, Jagti-Pangali, Nagrota, Dhian Singh including other local residents.
