KATHUA, Jan 9: Ravinder Sharma of BJP took oath of office as new president of Municipal Committee Lakhanpur near here, today.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Atul Gupta administered the oath to him in a function held at DC Office Kathua. On the occasion, BJP Municipal councilors of Lakhanpur were also present in the function. The former president Surmu Din has resigned from the post after completion of two years term.
There are seven councilors in Municipal Committee, Lakhanpur, out of which five are from BJP and two are independents. The BJP councilors decided to gave a chance to Ravinder Sharma to head the Committee.
While talking to media persons Ravinder Sharma said that the Lakhanpur is gate way of J&K and he wanted to develop the town as tourist hub. Lakhanpur needs a face lift so that the tourist may get good impression and local people may get employment, he added.
