Jamwal Group opens Engineering College, Polytechnic at Shahpur Kandi

JAMMU, May 13:  Venturing into neighbouring Punjab, Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions (JGE) has opened an Engineering College and Polytechnic at Shahpur Kandi, Pathankote, though just nine kilometers from Lakhanpur.
Both the institutions, Tawi Engineering College and Tawi Polytechnic, are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Punjab Technical University and Punjab State Board of Technical Education, respectively.
“With a view to facilitate  students of J&K as well as neighbouring Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, Shahpur Kandi was chosen for  the campus site, which is full of scenic beauty and provides excellent natural atmosphere for learning”, said Vidhi S Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Trustee of the Jamwal Group, while talking to media persons, here today.
The streams of discipline in engineering in either of the institutions are Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering, he explained.
Besides excellent infrastructural facilities in terms of building, laboratories, workshop, library, computer labs etc, Vidhi Singh claimed, highly educated and experienced faculty has been engaged for ensuring quality education in these institutes.  “Separate hostel premises for boys and girls as well as sports facilities within the lush green campus are also available”, he informed adding that the campus also provides daily bus service from Kathua and adjoining areas.
“These Engineering Institutes are built on a hillock commanding a scenic view of river Ravi flowing beneath its foot. The campus is spread over an area of about 400 kanals of land and gives a majestic view from across the border from Basholi town of J&K and also from Lakhanpur,” the Chairman-cum-Managing Trustee explained and asked the parents to visit the campus before taking  a decision of admitting their wards in any of the institutions. College provides free to and fro transport facility to the parents from Jammu for campus visit, he added.
