Omar facing heat in Ganderbal: Baig

SRINAGAR, May 13: Former Deputy Chief Minister  and PDP’s senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig has said that Ganderbal has demonstrated that assertion of public power alone can make difference in their lives.
Addressing a large public meeting at   Chunt Waliwar in Ganderbal constituency today, Mr Baig said that positive exercise of vote by people of this constituency in 2002 had determined the course of democracy in the State by establishing the principle of accountability for political parties. ” It is this supremacy  of the people’s will  and mood which has turned heat on Omar Abdullah once again who is finding it difficult now to face the people who had  reposed faith  in him in 2008,”  Mr  Baig added.
Former Deputy Chief Minister said by withdrawing their mandate to the Sheikh family in 2002 the people of Ganderbal had influenced the course of history not just in J&K but in the entire region that was facing a serious threat of another war around that time. The marginalization of  NC had led to historic developments in the sub-continent and it is now proved that the ruling party is a major stumbling block in political and economic development of the State.
Recalling how the PDP led Government had created a conducive atmosphere, Mr Baig said first people of State were liberated from fear of gun, followed by exchange of delegations comprising of traders, journalists, politicians and other opinion makers across the LoC. Then historic decision of opening of routes for travel and trade brought a great change in the situation.  This entire process was reversed with the return of NC to power.
Baig said the construction of long pending Bye-pass to Ladakh National Highway and up-gradation of roads, repair of canals by PDP-Congress coalition are perhaps the first and last intervention of that size and nature in Ganderbal area, which has been represented by Sheikh family for decades. There is no wonder that the Chief Minister is facing a deep rooted public wrath and public anger in the area as he had let down the people.
Senior party leaders Qazi Mohd Afzal (Ex-Minister),  Yasir Reshi, Mian Javed Nizami and Gh Rasool Shaheen also addressed the gathering.
