Poor medicare facilities at ESI dispensary: BBIA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 13: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has alleged shortage of  staff  and poor Medicare facilities at ESI dispensary, at Bari Brahmana SIDCO Industrial complex.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under chairmanship of Annil Suri (president), several members raised the issue of poor facilities and shortage of doctors and other medical staff at the local ESI dispensary.  BBIA members pointed out that in view of the poor services the needy workers are suffering. They regretted that issue was discussed with the higher authorities in the Labour Department  and the Regional Director ESI Corporation as well, but no action has been taken in this regard so far.
The Association alleged that most of the time during visits it has been observed that the only doctor is hardly available  and two Pharmacists have been engaged in the dispensary for the treatment of workers  and prescribe the  drugs to the needy patients. Against the posts of four doctors, at present only one doctor is posted in this dispensary.  The matter was also taken up with the Director Health Services while Labour Department has expressed its inability, which shows casual approach of the Government towards the Health of the Industrial workers in the State. The workers are contributing to the ESI out of their hard earned money but unfortunately they are denied adequate Medicare facilities. The Association sought the intervention of Labour Minister to address this issue.
