JAMMU, Jan 12: People held protest at Talli Morh area of tehsil RS Pura against illegal transportation of construction material including sand.
As per reports, tractor carrying sand was rammed into a furniture shop at Talli Morh area in tehsil RS Pura. The tractor carrying sand was being chased by a police vehicle when the incident took place.
The driver of the vehicle escaped from the spot. In the incident, some of the items kept in the shop were damaged.
As soon as people came to know about the accident, they came on road and held protest. They raised slogans demanding curb on the movement of tractors involved in illegal transportation of sand and other construction material.
After getting information, police team led by SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors by assuring them strict action against those involved in transporting construction material illegally will be taken.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed.
Meanwhile, the tractor has been seized by the police according to the orders issued by High Court.
