CEC Leh reviews progress on Jal Jeevan Mission

LEH, Jan 16: The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Advocate Tashi Gyalson today chaired a meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) stakeholders at DC Conference Hall Leh to review the progress and targets of JJM, here today.
Superintending Engineer (SE), PWD Leh, Pardeep Sharma, and Xen PHE Leh, Sonam Wangchuk informed the meeting about the status of engaging third party monitor, engaging Implementation Support Agencies (ISAs), progress of (Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) up to January 13, DPRs, and tenders for the next year (2021-22) FHTCs targets, National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), vetting of Village Action Plans (VAPs), and progress of water quality testing through Field Test Kits (FTKs) and laboratories in the district.
They also updated about the list of works allotted under JJM in Leh district as till date in which a total of 23 schemes have been allotted and 2095 FHTCs will be covered and also informed that till date a total of 11 schemes are tendered with a target of 597 FHTCs besides a total of 12 DPR are under preparation in the district covering 1658 FHTCs.
The SE informed that 358 schools out of 406 schools in Leh district have been entered in IMIS. Out of which 139 schools have drinking water facility and 219 schools are without drinking water facility. 49 schools have not been entered into the list because of zero enrolment of students.
SE Pradeep informed that of the total 342 AWCs, 92 of them have drinking water facilities while 250 AWCs are without drinking water facility. The uploading date of completed schools and Anganwadi Centers on IMIS is under process and shall be completed as soon as possible.
He further added that till now 16 tenders have been floated for providing drinking water facility in 16 blocks of the district. The last date of submission of bid is extended due to poor response in 5 blocks of the district.
The CEC stressed on achieving the target of 24,000 FHTCs by August 2022 under the Mission by ensuring the quality of work. He directed SE, PWD to speed-up the process of signing MoU with WAPCOS LTD for designing and preparation of DPRs for water schemes under JJM within a week’s time.
