Srinagar, Jan 17: The residents of Chattabal area of Srinagar today staged a protest alleging that the Army was digging the only playfield in their area for unknown reasons.
Scores of residents of Chana Mohalla locality of Chattabal assembled in the Press Enclave and urged the authorities to look into the matter as to why the Army has dug the playfield.
“We saw some Army men digging our playfield, and when we asked them why were they doing that, they told us that they were going to plant some trees,” said Javaid Ahmad one of the protestor,
Brushing that aside, the locals are apprehensive that the Army was going to bring the ground under their utilization which they said, will not be allowed to happen.
“We are demanding that the Government must look into the matter as it is the only playfield in the area that is catering to the needs of the youth,” they said.
