JAMMU, Jan 22: Apni Party, Schedule Caste, State coordinator, Bodh Raj Bhagat has demanded verification of Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards in J&K.
“The deserving people have not been included in the BPL ration cards and the non-deserving people have been given the ration cards even after many do not fall in the criteria,” alleged Bhagat.
He said that the SC community people in many areas have been facing official negligence from the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department for their failure to give ration to the genuine and deserving people.
“The Government ration is meant for the needy and poor people,” he reminded. Bhagat was speaking at a public meeting at Panchayat Gorda in block Mathwar, Nagrota constituency. He was accompanied by district general secretary of SC Wing Jammu Rural, Ajay Rana.
He said that the SC community has been ignored in Indira Awas Yojna scheme as non-deserving being given preference over the deserving people.
He said that the people should not be discriminated and Government schemes should be provided to the deserving people without discrimination on priority basis.
The people also highlighted shortage of drinking water and electricity problems on the occasion.
Meanwhile, many people joined the Apni Party at the Panchayat and they expressed their faith in the leadership of party president, Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari.
