Blind hit & run case solved, accused driver arrested

JAMMU, Jan 23: Akhnoor Police achieved a major success by solving a blind hit and run case in which one person was killed.
As per police sources, on January 19 this year a information was received through reliable source that a pedestrian namely Babu Ram, son of Munshi Ram of Ram Nagar Colony, Akhnoor was hit by an unknown load carrier which was been driven by an unknown driver in a rash and negligent manner at about 6.30 pm at Palwan Camp.
Acting over the information, a case under FIR Number 16/2021 under Sections 279 and 337 IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor.
The victim was shifted to SDH Akhnoor and later referred to GMCH Jammu but he succumbed to his injuries.
After postmortem of the deceased, the dead body was handed over to legal heirs of the deceased and offence under Section 304-A IPC was added in the said case.
A special team headed by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Parihar was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
During the course of investigation, CCTV camera footage of atleast 10 locations were analyzed. Thorough questioning from shopkeepers and local residents were made. Assistance of Tata Mobile and Load Carrier Unions were also sought.
After hectic efforts, the accused driver identified as Davinder Kumar, son of Nand Lal of Khadwani (Pangairi) Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu was identified and subsequently arrested who also confessed about his involvement in the said accident. The Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02AH-3196 which was involved in the case was also recovered and seized.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
The whole operation was carried out under the guidance of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
