KATHUA, Jan 23: In order to weed out the menace of drugs from the society, District Police Kathua today recovered poppy straw (Fukki) approximately weighing 50 kgs after arresting the drug peddler in the jurisdictional area of Police Station (PS) Billawar.
Police said the accused was arrested and vehicle involved loaded with apples was also seized on spot.
A police party of Police Post, Ramkot under the supervision of Inspector, Yash Pal while performing naka/checking duty in its jurisdictional area noticed a suspicious vehicle bearing Registration Number PB35Q-2555 and it was signaled to stop for checking.
On thorough checking, three sacks of approximately weighing 50 kgs were found filled with “poppy straw” like contraband substance from the cabin of the vehicle. The accused on questioning disclosed his identity as Parbhat Singh, S/o Chhajju Ram R/o Toor Tehsil, Mukerian district, Hoshiarpur (Punjab) who was arrested on spot and contraband item was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 11/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is being taken up.
