Doting organizes panel discussion on Mental Health

JAMMU, Jan 24: NGO Doting today organized a Panel discussion programme on Mental Health at Police Conference Hall in DPL, Jammu.
The panelists, Dr S P Verma, recipient of the Padmashree Award, and Head of Gandhi Global Family; Dr Manisha Kohli, Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor with the Department of Higher Education; Dr Varun Sharma, HoD Philosophy, Government PG College Gandhi Nagar and Romesh, Head of Guidance and Counseling Cell, DSEJ shared their valuable thoughts and reflected their experiences on the topic.
The panel discussion was conducted by Alina Mir. The topic of the discussion essentially was mental health in times of Covid. The panel discussion was held with an objective of raising awareness about the mental health and also provide the youth with various suggestions of how to cope with the present situation.
Dr Manisha, being a psychologist, threw light on the various ways we can help ourselves, and be our own counsellors in times of need. Mr Romesh and Dr Varun on the other hand elaborated on the need of development of educational institutes and their structure in terms of counselling and mental health sensitivity.
S P Verma talked about the various methods that Gandhi ji had used to help himself and the people around him at such crucial times like the independence struggle of our country and pointed that the growth of an individual and the soul leads to a better psychological as well physical health.
Arsh Mir informed that Dot.ing works as a gen z organisation trying to inculcate the want to work towards a better tomorrow in the youth. He said that his belief in the power of his generation, is what drives this organisation, and consequently released their movement- ACT47, which is a movement based on his idea that the future of the youth will be built by the youth, and their legacy won’t be a legacy of the multitudes of issues including mental health stigma, polarization, global warming and much more.
Mudassir Latifi said that website launch and mental health panel discussion represent the works the Dot ing have done since the past few months. Dhairya Choudhary presented the vote of thanks.
