UDHAMPUR, May 17: An elderly man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his house near Filter Point, Railway Road Udhampur, late last night.
The deceased, identified as Suram Chand, son of Kirpa Ram, was found unconscious by the family members who rushed him to District Hospital where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition. However, he breathed his last on way to Jammu. Cause behind the provocation could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, three persons were injured in a collision between two trucks near Dogra Point on National Highway near Chenani.
Reports said that the accident took place when a truck from Jammu to Srinagar, bearing registration number JK2AF-0596, collided head on with another truck PB05A-9863, coming from the opposite direction.
The injured, identified as Saddam Hussain (16), son of Noor Mohd of Kishtwar, Shabir Ali (40) son of Nazir Ahmed of Kishtwar and Aman Bhatti (18) son of Birra Bhatti of Amritsar, have been admitted to District Hospital Udhampur.
