Rotary Club, PWWA felicitate families of police martyrs

JAMMU, Jan 29: The Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Dilbag Singh has said that the history of Jammu and Kashmir Police will be written in golden letters as the JKP has played a great role in restoration of peace in erstwhile J&K State.

Addressing a felicitation function organized by Rotary Club Jammu, Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) and prominent citizens at Police Martyrs Memorial, Rail Head, Jammu today, the DGP said that the history of Jammu Kashmir Police will be written in golden letters. He said that the martyrdom achieved by the officers and jawans of JKP personnel during the last three decades for ensuring peace and safety and security of the people of Jammu and Kashmir speaks volumes of courage, valour and sacrifices of JKP.
The J&K Police chief said, “ We are proud to be a part of such a brave police force who are sacrificing their lives for the integrity of the nation. The martyrdom of our personnel is being recognized at the national level and for which, this year on the Republic Day four JKP personnel have been awarded the Shurya Chakra, besides 52 police medals for Gallantry,” Dilbag added.
The DGP said that PWWA is the soul of Jammu Kashmir Police Parivar which is organizing such programmes for the martyrs. He said that on various occasions especially on October 21 every year, martyrs are remembered and tributes are paid to them for their sacrifices.
Earlier, DGP, ADGs, PWWA members, IGs, retired senior Police officers, prominent citizens of the Jammu, members of the Rotary Club and families of martyrs, paid floral tributes to the J&K Police martyrs.
On the occasion, former DGPs of J&K Police Kuldeep Khoda and Dr Ashok Bhan extended gratitude to the Rotary Club Jmamu and PWWA for organizing this programme.
Retired IGP Ashok Gupta and Dr Dushyant Choudhary also spoke on the occasion and welcomed chief guest, senior police officers, retired senior officers, families of martyrs, prominent citizens and other district Rotary Club members.
President Rotary Club Jammu Tawi, VK Mehra presented the vote of thanks.
The organizers of the function distributed gifts to the NoKs of the martyrs’ families as a token of their gratitude. Prominent among those present included ADGPs Deepak Kumar, SJM Gillani, AG Mir, T.Namgyal, Mukesh Singh, MK Sinha, Danesh Rana; Director ACB Anand Jain, PWWA members- Pallavi Gillani, Suma Sinha, Varsha Anand Jain; DIG JSK Vivek Gupta, retired ADGP Madan Lal, PK Gupta and others.
