TADA court formally frames charges in Rubiya Syed kidnapping case

JAMMU, Jan 29: Special Judge TADA Court Sunit Gupta today formally framed charges under Sections 364, 368,120-B RPC, Section 3/4 of TADA Act, 1987 and Section 7/27 of Indian Arms Act against JKLF chief and others in kidnapping of Dr Rubiya Syed, daughter of former Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed.
After hearing Special PP Monika Kohli with SK Bhat appearing for the CBI, the Special Judge fixed March 3, 2021 for prosecution evidence.
While framing the charges, Special Judge observed, “Yasin Malik and others accused had kidnapped Dr Rubia Syed, who at the relevant time was undergoing Resident Rotatory Internship Training in Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar and wrongfully confined her with ulterior motive of getting released five militants, who were lodged at that time in different jails”.
The other accused are Mohd Rafiq Dar, Ali Mohd Mir, Iqbal Ahmed Gandroo, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Wahajat Bashir, Miraj-ud-din Sheikh, Shoukat Ahmed Bakshi, Javed Ahmed alias Nalka, Nanaji alias Saleem, Riaz Ahmed Bhat, Khurshid Ahmed Dar, Basharat Rehman, Tariq Ashraf, Shafaqat Ahmed Shangloo and Manzoor Ahmed alias Muna alias Manzoor Islam.
