Tributes paid to freedom fighters on Martyrs Day

JAMMU, Jan 30: Rich tributes were paid to freedom fighters including Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs Day.
Congress observed the martyrdom day of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi today in a function at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu. Senior leader of JKPCC paid rich tributes to father of nation and pledged to follow his philosophy. The senior leaders who paid tributes include Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Yogesh Sawhney, Kanta Bhan, Balwan Singh, Manmohan Singh, Rajnish Sharma, Hari Singh Chib, Vinod Sharma, Dr Rashid Choudhary, Krishan Lal Gupta, Sanjeev Panda, Advocate Suresh Dogra, Col. Swarn Singh, Rajvir Singh, Dr RK Khajuria, Madan Lal Malagar, etc.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) paid tributes to father of the Nation on his death anniversary at Srinagar party office and recalled his enormous contributions and sacrifices to the Nation. In a function presided over by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President GA Mir at Srinagar Party Office, senior party leaders and workers paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation on his death anniversary, which is being celebrated as Martyr’s Day. Vice President JKPCC Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Gen Secretary Surinder Singh Channi, DCC Presidents Ab.Gani Khan, Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Nissar Ahmad Mundoo also addressed the function.
Sainik Welfare Department, J&K organized the Golden Jubilee of 1971 War on Martyrs Day at Balidhan Stambh. Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lt Governor initiated the proceedings by laying a wreath. Veterans and War Widows of historic 1971 campaign were the special invitees and were felicitated for their invaluable services to the Nation. In addition to them the function was attended by Ex-servicemen, prominent citizens, NGOs and NCC Cadets and students. Director Sainik Welfare highlighted the importance of the day. The function was attended by various NGOs like Rotary Club Elite, Inner Wheel Club, SS Jain Sabha (Talab Tillo), Home for Aged and Infirm, Jain Mahila Mandal and Red Cross. The function commenced with the rendition of a patriotic song and culminated with the singing of the National Anthem by children under the aegis of J&K Academy of Arts, Culture and Language.
To observe the Martyrs Day, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh led the senior Police officers, staff of Police Headquarters and Armed Police Headquarters in paying homage to the freedom fighters at Police Headquarters lawns. ADGPs AK Choudhary, SJM Gillani, Abdul Ghani Mir, T Namgyal, IGP Armed Jammu Danesh Rana, AIGs of PHQ, SO to ADGP Armed and other gazetted officers of PHQ and APHQ, staff of the two headquarters participated in this solemn meeting.
To observe the Martyrs’ Day, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mukesh Singh led the senior officers and staff to pay homage at ZPHQ Jammu. SO to IGP Jammu Ashok Kumar, Private Secretary to IGP Jammu JS Slathia and other gazetted officers and staff of ZPHQ participated in this solemn meeting.
In order to commemorate the sacrifices made by the great leaders and men of our country in the struggle for India’s freedom, all officers and officials of Crime Branch Jammu assembled in the lawn of Zonal Crime Branch Headquarter, Jammu and observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect and tribute in their memory and contribution to this Nation. Shailender Singh, SSP Crime Branch Jammu, Mamta Sharma ASP, Vishal Manhas, Nihar Ranjan, Ram Singh, Imran Malik, Abid Rafique, Anil Dev Jamwal SrPO, Raj Kumar SrPO besides Non-Gazetted and lower subordinate staff of CB-Jammu were also present.
Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (FFMA) remembered Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. To pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, a programme was organized at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, Ambhalla which was organized by Ved Gandotra, the Chairman of the Association in presence of Vice Chairman, Rajiv Mahajan, President R.C Puri and other office bearers.
Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu organized an online Musical Programme ‘Mera Desh, Meri Jaan’ under the patronship of Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu. The event was organised on the theme ‘Patriotism’ to commemorate Martyrs’ Day in which more than 60 students of Constituent Colleges of Cluster University of Jammu participated. Many students gave spellbound performances and mesmerized the audience with their melodious voice. They sang beautiful songs showcasing their love for nation and Mahatma Gandhi. Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, Dr Banpreet Kour, Associate Dean, Students Welfare, Assistant Deans, Dr Geetanjali Rajput, Dr Mansi Sharma, Dr Shamim Rather, Dr Davinder Kour, Dr Sudesh and Dr Kuldeep Raina (HOD Music) attended the programme. Dr Revika Arora, Cultural Coordinator coordinated and anchored the proceedings.
On Martyrs Day, GDC Vijaypur remembered, saluted and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College exhorted that on Martyrs Day, we gratefully remember Mahatma Gandhi and the countless freedom fighters, who sacrificed their all for our independence and reiterated the commitment to follow the path shown by them. Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch coordinated the programme.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College Jindrah organised an activity to honour Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Rajshree Dhar, Principal of the college. Dr. Sunil Dutt Sharma, Head NSS Unit organised this activity along with NSS volunteers of the college. The students of the college carried out plantation drive and present plant saplings to all the faculty members.
Senior Citizens Club Udhampur observed Martyrs’ Day. Floral tributes were paid by all members of the Club to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. President of the Club Mahadeep Singh Jamwal recalled the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi towards the nation and its independence.
On the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, a special tribute program was organized at Naturopathy Hospital Ved Mandir. On this occasion, the people paid tribute and remembered the Father of the nation. UT President of Shiv Sena Manish Sahni, Dr Kapil Batra, Meenakshi Chhibber, Vikas Bakshi, Purshotam Lal, Ritu Devi, Amrit Kaur and many others were present on the occasion.
National Panthers Party, National Legal Aid Committee, National Lawyers’ Association and others paid tributes to the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party, Balwant Singh Mankotia, President JKNPP, Masood Andrabi, Vice President, Anita Thakur, General Secretary, Anil Sharma, President-Rajasthan, Rajiv Jolly Khosla, Delhi President, Ram Aadhar Singh Bishen, UP President, Shashi Bharat Bhushan, Advocate, President Haryana, Manas Banerjee, President West Bengal, Pinki Sinha, General Secretary, Naresh Ambethkar, President, Tamil Nadu and several other political, social activists, lawyers and representatives of NGOs paid rich tributes to the Father of Nation.
All J&K Kissan Union in collaboration with Interaction Forum Jammu Province (IFJP) paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Advocate Ashok Sharma President All J&K Kissan Union, Advocate Naresh Sharma, Capt Lalit Sharma, KL Koran, Advocate Arjun Sharma UT Secretary INC, Amitosh Sharma, Parmanand and many others were present on the occasion.
