JAMMU, Jan 30: Former MLC, Ch. Vikram Randhawa called on Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Finance and Corporate Affairs for putting up the issue of upliftment of J&K UT in front of the Government of India in financial aspects.
Applauding the efforts of the Central Government, Randhawa said that J&K has made substantial progress in industrial development with the efforts made by the Government of India by sanctioning various incentives, schemes, and packages. The UT Government has adopted industrial policies from time to time, latest being the policy of 2016 similarly Government of India sanctioned a package of incentives for the industrial development of UT at different intervals.
Randhawa also enlisted the industrial development package of Rs 28,400 crore which was given to attract Rs 20,000 crore investment and create 4.5 lakh jobs in the Union Territory. This was a historic move of the Central Government for the UT, the package comes as a big relief for the industrialist and cover the manufacturing and the service sector mainly tourism and IT.
Randhawa also requested that in union budget 2021 which is going to be presented on February 1 that a special package should be given to the UT and hopefully he will look forward for a positive attitude by the Central Government which would make UT to reach heights in the coming years.
Anurag Thakur said there are a number of schemes for J&K UT. The Government of India is always pleased to make the scheme of Central grant or subsidy for the industrial units in Jammu and Kashmir with a view to accelerate the industrial development in the UT. The funds are always sufficient but only accountability required Thakur, added.
