Lakhanpur police rescues 16 bovines, seizes truck

KATHUA, Jan 30: In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society and to take strict measures to thwart the conspiracies of bovine smugglers, a team of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling attempt in its jurisdictional area and rescued 16 bovine animals and seized the truck involved.
A police team of PS Lakhanpur headed by SHO, Inspector, Sanjeev Chib during its routine naka checking intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number JK22-0370 which was being driven by the driver namely Nisar Ahmed, S/o Ghulam Qadir of Rakh Bara Dhanawal district Anantnag, accompanied by his accomplice namely Shokat Ali, S/o Kaku of Jod Juthana tehsil Kathua, was signaled to stop for checking.
On thorough checking of the vehicle, 16 bovine animals were found loaded without any legal permission and were rescued on spot.
On this, instant case vide FIR No.18/2021 U/S 188/IPC 11/PCA Act has been registered at Lakhanpur Police Station and further investigation has been started.
