REASI, May 18: A Government teacher was suspended for severely beating a student of class VII in Reasi, here today.
Reports said that Mohd Aslam, a class VII student of Government Middle School Anji, was severely beaten up by his school teacher Poonam Kumari resulting to hospitalization of the former.
The incident sparked a strong protest by family members of the student and locals, who staged a demonstration outside the hospital. They were demanding stern action against the erring teacher.
Taking cognizance of the incident, Additional District Development Commissioner-Reasi, Rajinder Singh Tara ordered immediate suspension of the teacher as well as an inquiry against her.
The ADC also ordered a separate inquiry into the matter by Zonal Education Officer Reasi and asked him to submit a report within three days.
