Govt committed to create healthy environment for people: Bhalla

JAMMU, May 18: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that Government is committed to create healthy environment in every pocket of urban area by developing greener patches on the open spaces, adding that in this regard,  a comprehensive plan has been prepared to develop all the parks with facilities like seating, drinking water, sprinkle system,  irrigation, illumination, walkway, landscaping and fencing.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the residents after inspecting the ongoing improvement work of recreational park opposite Reserve Bank of India in Trikuta Nagar, here today.
Mr. Bhalla informed the residents that Government has earmarked Rs. 13 lakh for upgradation of facilities in the  garden which is  maintained by Jammu Development Authority (JDA). He asked the  officers of JDA to ensure that   all the installed lights and water-cooler are kept functional to facilitate the  visitors. He directed them for regular maintenance of landscaping and irrigation facilities.
The Minister further said that Rs. 11 lakh have been sanctioned for development of Children Park at Trikuta Nagar, adding that the work on the project is under progress. He said that fun games and swings would be installed in the garden for the children, while there would also be walkways, landscaping, benches and facility of irrigation. He asked  JMC to complete the work within 15 days.
The Minister said that Government is  making all out efforts to beautify all the open spaces by developing recreational parks and walkways to give a face-lift to these areas. He asked the concerned department to remove bushes and renovate the  damaged walkways in the parks. Responding to the locals demand, the Minister announced Rs. 12 lakh for blacktopping of Bhawani Nagar Sector-3 in Trikuta Nagar lanes including drains with grating facilities.
Regarding digging of deep drill mini tubewell at Bhawani Nagar, Mr. Bhalla called upon the people to identify state land or donate land for this purpose so that the project can  be started soon. He said with the construction of tube well, the drinking water facilities in the locality will be improved. He said there is no constraint of funds under ERA and PHE sectors, adding that Government is committed to ensure adequate drinking water supply during summer.
Later, at Sanjay Nagar Sector-3 W. No. 46, the Minister kick started upgradation work of lanes and drains for which Government has earmarked Rs. 5 lakh. He asked JMC to complete the work within stipulated time frame using quality material.
