Baramulla traders threaten strike over power cuts

SRINAGAR, Feb 2: The Traders Federation of Baramulla in North Kashmir today threatened to launch an agitation if the Power Developmental Department fails to improve electricity of the district in next two days
Traders took a strong note of the continuous power curtailment in Baramulla in the ongoing harsh winter and urged the administration to follow the already issued curtailment schedule. “We urge upon District Administration Baramulla especially Power Development Department Baramulla to follow the already issued guidelines regarding power curtailment and refrain from unnecessarily cuts in Baramulla,” Tariq Ahmed Mugloo, General Secretary Federation Baramulla, said.
He added they would hit streets if the Power Development Department proceeds with the unscheduled power cuts. “If power department did not follow the already issued guidelines regarding power schedule in Baramulla, then we will hit the streets and hold strong protests against the stepmotherly approach by the PDD towards the people of Baramulla,” he said.
He further added that they are giving two days’ time to the power Development department to improve power supply in Baramulla. “We are giving 2 days ultimatum to PDD and if they fail to improve the power supply we will hold strong protests demonstration on February 4, 2021 at 11:30 am at main Chowk Baramulla,” he said.
