JAMMU, Feb 7: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged Hindi play ‘Miss World Undeclared’ written by Satyendra Shrivastava and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play ‘Miss World Undeclared’ presented the sad saga of all the those people, particularly Asians living in developed European countries and facing racial discrimination and hatred from the natives there as they (natives) think their resources are shared and reduced by them (Asians).
This was showed from the point of view of a school going girl ‘Noorie’ who was regularly bullied by her classmates who have fair complexion.
They tease her for not being as beautiful as them to the extent that she decides to discontinue her education. But her mother makes her realize that criteria for being beautiful is not being fair or having external beauty, the real beauty is internal beauty and anyone with good heart and calm mind is much more beautiful than those who only possess good looks.
Motivated by her mother, she goes to school and comes back very happy as on that day the result of Miss World pageant got declared and the winner was an Indian girl. The play ends with a positive and inspirational note that “it does not matter how we look but it really matters what we are” and that is the key to real and eternal happiness.
Natrang young artists who acted in the play were Diksha Pandita, Kananpreet Kaur, Lovely Sharma and Riya Sharma.
Lights were designed and operated by Neeraj Kant. Music was scored by Brijesh Avtaar Sharma and the show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and presentations were done by Sushant Singh Charak.
Before the play started, a two minutes silence was observed for peace to the departed soul of Bansi Kaul, a stalwart of Indian theatre and son of the soil who left for heavenly abode on Feb 6, 2021.
