ISM doctor, Revenue officials booked by Crime Branch

JAMMU, May 20:  Crime Branch Jammu has booked an ISM doctor and a Tehsildar among officials of Revenue Department for cheating, fraud, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
A criminal case under Sections 420, 465, 466, 468, 471, 120-B RPC r/w Section 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006 has been registered against  Dr Renu Shan, wife of  Dr Rakesh Shan, presently residing at 126- Upper Gujjar Nagar, Jammu, M A Lone, the then Tehsildar, Kishtwar and other officers/officials of the Revenue Department, Kishtwar.
The case was registered after investigations on a complaint by Anil Kant Gupta and Rohit Gupta alleging that Renu Shan was selected as Medical Officers (Ayurvedic) in the Indian System of Medicines under RBA category, fraudulently managed by her in connivance with Revenue officials.
During the course of investigations, the Crime Branch established that Renu Shan was married in 2003 to Rakesh Shan a resident of Kukarwas, Kishtwar and in 2004 she obtained her RBA category certificate, which was fake one prepared and issued by Naib Tehsildar Balgran, who wrongly certified that the beneficiary was continuously residing in the backward area for the last 15 years. Again in the year 2006, Renu Shan submitted another application supported by an affidavit for issuance of RBA certificate stating therein that she had neither applied earlier for issuance of the same nor such certificate was previously issued to her. Officers/ officials of the Revenue Department, Kishtwar by abusing their official position had issued two RBA certificates, which were used by Renu Shan in order to make herself eligible under RBA category and seek her selection and appointment as Medical Officer (Ayurvedic).
