JAMMU, Feb 8: An interactive meeting was held today with the heads of various temple and shrines committees of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Sopore at Sharda Mata Temple, Ban Talab near here. The heads of all the temples and shrines of these Northern districts of Valley renewed their complete support and cooperation to the PNBMT for the passage of the all important Temples and Shrines Bill.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shardanandan Dhar and others who adorned the dais included Roshan Lal Pandita chairman of the Trust and B.L.Saraf, (retd) District & Session Judge.
The panel that spoke on behalf of the PNBMT included Kashmiri Lal Bhat, Shiban Khaibri and M. K .Jalali. Kashmiri Lal in his address elaborated the decade old struggle of the Trust in bringing the Temple Bill to the top most agenda of the KP community. He said that it is due to the efforts of the PNBMT that a global level awareness has been created for the preservation of the more than 5000 years old heritage of the Kashmiri Pandits in Valley. The credit for this goes to the relentless campaign launched by the members of the Trust. He added the day is not far when the Temples Bill would be passed.
The heads of the various temple committees gave their complete support to the PNBMT to further the agenda for the passage of the Temples’ Bill and offered their complete cooperation in the matter. The speakers of the Temple Committees who spoke on the occasion included M.K.Pandita, president Sanatan Dharam Sabha Handwara, M.T. Krishen, Temple Committee Langate, Bansi Lal Pandita Temple Committee Tikker, Subhash Chatta SDS Baramulla, M.L.Padroo, Kheer Bhawani Asthapan Kupwara, Dilip Kumar Pandit Mata Bhadrakali Vadipora, Handwara and M.K.Ganjoo SDS Sopore.
District and Session Judge (retd) B.L.Saraf in his address said that the powers that be have to pass the Bill in order to save the temples of Kashmir.
Roshan Lal Pandita, chairman of the Trust said that the meeting with the Temple Committee heads of other districts would also be organised shortly to receive their feedback regarding the condition of the temples in Kashmir.
Secretary, Sundri Lal Koul conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
