Ten-day workshop on Research Methodology begins at KU

SRINAGAR, May 21: Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Talat Ahmad today inaugurated a 10-day workshop on Research Methodology for PHD students here at Gandhi Bhawan today.
The event is being organized by Department of Sociology University of Kashmir in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
The inaugural session was attendant by scholars of various disciplines of Science and Social Sciences from and outside the State. Eminent Social Scientist and former Dean Faculty of Education, Prof A G Madhosh, Prof M A Wani, Dean faculty of Social Sciences, Head, Department of Sociology KU and Course Director, Prof Bashir Ahmad Dabla were present on the dais.
In his presidential address, Prof Talat Ahmad encouraged the scholars from various universities to base their researches on facts and interpret them by applying tested methods of research. He advocated for a mandatory research methodology paper for every scholar which would help them to apply the apt research methodology in their studies.
In his inaugural address, A G Madhosh, chief guest of the occasion, said that scholars should conduct their studies on the contemporary issues to help move society forward.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean Faculty of Social Science Muhammad Ashraf Wani said that mere collection of facts was not research but the right interpretation of the facts.
Giving details about the course HoD Sociology KU, and Course Director Prof Bashir Ahmad Dabla gave details of the course while senior faculty Dr Anisa Shafi stressed the need to impart expertise and skills in social research.
In the first session of the workshop, Prof Noor Muhammad presented a paper on the Nature of Scientific Methods and its Application to Social Phenomenon and Nature, Importance and Scope of Research.
