Two booked under Arms Act in Akhnoor

JAMMU, Feb 11: Two persons were arrested today by Akhnoor police for opening fire from a rifle and a pistol, thereby endangering lives of others.
According to a police sources, on February 9 at about 3 PM, two persons boarding on a white coloured Verna car bearing registration number JK02AU/6566 came from Kaleeth side and after parking the vehicle at Jamotia (Akhnoor) opened fire from one 12 bore Rifle and one Pistol, thereby disturbing peace in the area.
He said on preliminary investigation, the accused were identified as Vinod Singh son of Ranjeet Singh of Patan Pallanwala and Vipan Chalotra son of Puran Chand of Kaleeth.
“Accordingly, a case FIR number 38/2021 under Section 336 IPC, 3/25 Arms Act was registered and a team was constituted under SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar and both the accused were arrested,” sources added.
They further informed that both the weapons were recovered and the vehicle used for the offense was also seized. Further investigation into the matter is going on, sources added.
