Two-week faculty development programme begins at SMVDU

JAMMU, May 21: The second national two-week faculty development programme on ‘Applications of Econometrics and Time Series Techniques in Business’ was  inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of  Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Prof  S K  Jain.
This 14-day event is being organized by College of Management, SMVDU Katra with the financial grant from AICTE, New Delhi.
In his inauguration address, Prof Jain, emphasized the relevance of applied advance techniques in present globalised era and mentioned that the knowledge of these techniques can be helpful for basic understanding, scientific analysis, results interpretation and forecasting business data not only for teaching but also for empirical research and to prepare rational decision makers for better policy implications.
Blessing the participants and organizers in inaugural session, Dean, College of Management Prof D Mukhopadhyay underlined the need of such more initiatives in future.
While briefing the contents and structure of the programme, the Coordinator of Faculty Development Programme gave a concise prologue about the prominent resource persons. More than 50 participants from 27 institutions located in various parts of India have come to SMVD University to enter into the world of econometrics and time series so that their teaching can become more effective, interesting and applied.
The inaugural session ended  with a vote of thanks by Programme Co-coordinator.
