New Delhi: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the promises he made to the people before the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
While launching his attack at the Modi government in Lok Sabha, AR Chowdhury stressed that the dreams which the government had shown after the abrogation of Article 370 remain unfulfilled.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir is yet to return to normalcy while local businesses worth Rs 90,000 crore have been wiped out from the Valley. “We want you to tell us how will you improve things in J&K,” he asked.
Training guns at the Union Home Minister, Chowdhury went on to say, “Amit Shah ji, you had said that you will bring back Brahmins. Did you succeed in bringing back Pandits?”
“You say you will bring back Gilgit Baltistan. It’s a matter for later. But at least bring back those who were internally displaced, those who can’t go to Kashmir valley,” quipped the Congress leader.
Continuing his attack at the Centre, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, “You didn’t succeed in giving 200-300 acres of land to Pandits. In your election manifesto, you had promised that you will bring back Pandits. Did you succeed?”
“You should at least say, ‘raat gayi to baat gayi, election gaya to vaada gaya’. You should clarify your stand,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman blasted the Congress party for questioning the Union Budget and accused Rahul Gandhi of creating fake narratives against he Modi govt. (AGENCY)
