JAMMU, Feb 14: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has claimed that officials of JK Employees Provident Fund Organisation (JKEPFO) have slashed interest rates on PF contributions without the approvals of Board of Trustees (BoT).
In a press conference here today BMS leader Harbans Choudhary said, the payout made to subscribers on PF their withdrawals from 2015 to December 2020 has been made at 8.5% but for those who are still in employment or have not withdrawn their PF, the interest from 2015 onwards has been calculated at 5.5% to 6% thus giving huge financial loss to the subscribers.
“All this is being done to cover up wrong doings and mismanagement of poor subscribers’ money,” he said adding that more than a year and half has passed but JKEPFO has failed to transfer PF data and its officials are busy in making payment of withdrawals due to vested interests in violation of orders/circulars by PF Commissioner and poor workers those who lost their employment due to COVID pandemic are told that portal is closed whereas hardly 30% data has been transferred so for to EPFO.
BMS leader demanded that multiple accounts numbers allotted to subscribers by the labour contractors should be merged into one by linking the accounts with aadhar card.
He demanded that inspection must be held on complaint basis as number of construction companies and factories have hundreds of uncovered workers and numbers of factories have developed new system by which daily cash payment is made to workers and no record is maintained.
BMS demanded that the illegal order of lowering the interest rates without the approval of Board of Trustees must withdrawn immediately and minimum wages be revised at the pattern of UT else BMS will start agitation.
Ishfaq Ahmed Chohan, vice president BMS; Ravi Hans Jal Shakti Daily Wagers Union; Sachin Bali, ASCOM Employees Association; Purshotam Sharma, General Secretary Super Bazaar Union; Kala Ram, Contract Worker Union Samba; Arjun Kumar of KC Food Workers Union; Purshotam Sharma, General Secretary Shrine Board Employees Union Katra and Shamsher Chand, President District Samba were also present in the press conference.
