IMPHAL, Feb 14: Dr. Vivak Manohar Arya, scientist of SKUAST-Jammu got best research paper award in Asian conference on “Managing Hill Resources and Diversities for Zero Hunger and Climate Resilience” organized by prestigious Soil Conservation Society of India, New Delhi, Central University, Imphal and ICAR New Delhi.
The conference was attended by more than 300 scientists from across the globe. Few of the eminent scientists who attended the conference were Dr. Hasrat Arjjumend, Canada, Dr. Lun Yin, Director, CBIK, Kunming, China, Prof. Attia El-Gayar, SWERI, Giza, Egypt, Dr. Pema Gyamtsho, Director General, ICIMOD, Kathmandu, Prof. (Dr.) S.H. R. Sadeghi, Iran, Dr. Hasrat Arjjumend, Canada, Dr. J.P. Sharma, VC, SKUAST-Jammu Dr. C.L. Acharya, Dr.A.K.Singh, Vice President NAAS,Dr. P.K. The paper authored by Dr. Arya, Dr. Vikas Sharma, & Ajay Thakur entitled “Impact of different soil & water conservation modules on water quality in the adopted village ponds of North – Western Himalayas”. The study was conducted to assess the impact of water conservation modules on water quality of adopted ponds. The study revealed that there is an improvement in water quality index of adopted ponds which can be further improved by sustaining these conservation modules.
