Gang of thieves busted; stolen diesel recovered

UDHAMPUR, May 22: Working out a theft case, Udhampur Police have busted an organized gang of thieves involved in stealing diesel from the machineries of the contractors and black-market it. Approximately one thousand liters of diesel filled in four barrels and 12 cans has been recovered so far from the accused and one auto rickshaw has also been seized. Two  kingpins of the gang have been arrested while raids were still  going on to nab  the absconding members of the organized gang involved in series of such theft cases in the area.
The arrested accuseds have been identified as Bittu Ram and Ram Murti of Sunetar Ramnagar. The arrests were made under the supervision of Incharge SSP Udhampur Benam Tosh by SDPO Manish Agarwal and SHO Hamid Bandey,
According to police, A case was registered yesterday at Police Station Ramnagar on the complaint of one Ashok Kumar of Housing Colony, Udhampur who alleged that a gang of thieves had stolen away 1,000/- litres of diesel from the construction site. Police party immediately swung into action and arrested two accused and recovered the stolen fuel on their disclosure.
One more member of this gang namely Madan Lal of Sunetar has also been figured as the prime accused. His auto has been seized but he was still absconding.
More recoveries of fuel and arrests are likely to be effected in this theft case.
