GUWAHATI, Feb 16 : Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said today that BJP is poised to return for the second term in Assam.
Addressing a press conference at the newly opened State Election Office of BJP at Ganeshguri locality in the heart of the city here, Dr Jitendra Singh said that for BJP, every election whether small or big is a serious task where everybody contributes with all his might and capacity. He said, in BJP, every member of the party is a Karyakarta and every office bearer or leader equally joins the election fray whether it is a Panchayat election or a Zila Parishad election or Assembly election or Parliamentary election.
Flanked by BJP leaders including Jay Panda, National General Secretary Dilip Sakia, Member of Parliament Rajdeep Roy, Sangathan Mantri Phanindra Natha Sarma and others, Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP is entering the election fray with a call for the BJP+ = 100+, which in other words means that BJP will not only be victorious in forthcoming Assembly polls but would also add to its tally of the last election. He said, the biggest complement of five years’ rule of BJP is that there is no anti- incumbency factor against the government and people are keen to continue with the BJP led dispensation in the State.
When asked to respond to Rahul Gandhi’s accusation that a large number of people in Assam did not have access to clean tap water, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, the Congress leader is not aware that funds have already been earmarked for this purpose and the Jal Shakti Ministry has undertaken a plan to provide clean tap water to all within the stipulated timeline. On the contrary, he said, it is for the Congress leadership to answer why they could not provide healthy sanitation and clean water to people even when they were the ruling party in the State for over half of a century.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, the entire unit of BJP is united to meet the electoral challenge and various Management and Monitoring Committees for election have been constituted and given their agenda as well as timelines of working. He also said that like earlier State elections like in other States, this time too, we will have the advantage of holding public rallies to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J P Nadda.
