Bank employees hold protest against outsourcing of jobs

JAMMU, May 22:  Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation today held a protest demonstration against outsourcing of regular and perennial bank jobs.
Addressing the protesting bank employees, Arun Kumar Gupta, general secretary of the Federation of Jammu province, informed that they  have written letters in this regard to Minister for Labour and Employment, Mallik Arjun Kharge,  and Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), BK Sanwariya, seeking their intervention to address the burning issue.
The Federation demanded to stop outsourcing regular and perennial jobs, which it said is a violation of Bipartite Settlement  and Contract Labour (Regulations and Abolition) Act.
The  Federation also demanded to stop outsourcing ATMs and stressed for recruitment of permanent employees and regularizing the existing contract /outsourced employees.
Gupta told the gathering that a massive dharna will also be organised on May 29, 2013, before the  Parliament by the bank employees and contract/outsourced workers from all over the country. A quite number of comrades of Jammu province will also participate in the dharna programme at New Delhi, he added.
