UDHAMPUR, Feb 17: Continuing its drive against drug smuggling, Police Party of Police Station Chenani today seized 18 kg of poppy straw from a truck and arrested its driver.
The truck, bearing registration number PB32L- 9987, was intercepted by a Police team, led by SHO Chenani, Inspector Pushpinder Singh, under the supervision of SDPO Chenani, Ahmed Shaafi, during a naka at Motor Shed Naka Point on the National Highway.
Driver of the truck, namely Pawan Kumar, son of Dharam Paul of Ghagon Roranwali, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, was arrested on spot. Police seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the truck.
In this connection, case FIR number 18/2021, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered as Police Station Chenani and further investigation is underway.
