JAMMU, Feb 18: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Head Constable allegedly shot himself dead inside his post in Deeli area of Channi Himmat, here today.
CRPF HC identified as Prafulla Kumar Kalitha, son of late Nomalch Kalitha, a resident of Assam, was on guard duty inside his post in Deeli area of Channi Himmat when he shot himself with his service rifle.
His colleagues rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body has been shifted to mortuary of GMCH Jammu for autopsy, which will be conducted tomorrow.
The motive behind taking this extreme step was not known immediately.
However, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated by Greater Kailash Police in this regard.
