SAMBA, Feb 19: District Development Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria today inaugurated the valedictory function on 32nd Road Safety Month-Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha at District Administrative Park Nandini Hills.
Scores of District Officers, PRI members, Motor Vehicle Sponsors, local public and GDC Samba students carrying placards with slogans appealing people to follow road safety measures to avoid accidents participated in the programme.
Senior Supritendent of Police Rakesh Sharma Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jitender Mishra, Chief Planning Officer Sukhleen Kour, Chief Medical Officer Rajinder Samyal, District Informatics Officer Sanjeev Kapoor Assistant Road Transport Officer, Rehana Tabassum and District Information Officer Ajay Sharma were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the aim of the programme is to inculcate traffic awareness among motorists, commuters, pedestrians including college and school goers and to make them aware about safety measures to be taken while on road.
He also assured that in coming days parking facilities shall be provided at main market stops including Samba, Vijaypur and Bari Brahmana which will not only easy daily commutation but also help in reducing the road fatalities.
Later, DDC Samba and other special invitees distributed prizes, mementos, certificates among the participants, students, officers and sponsors.
