JAMMU, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today inspected progress of four-laning works on National Highway stretch from Nashri to Banihal.
During the visit, Aditional Deputy Commissioner Ramban (Collector Land Acquisition NHW), Harbans Lal, and Project Director NHAI Parshotam Kumar were also present.
On spot directions were issued by the Deputy Commissioner to the construction companies to expedite the pace of construction works on the Highway stretch.
The ADC Ramban briefed in detail that the structures and trees coming in the alignment have already been removed from Nashri to Ramban 25 km, barring Dhalwas, where structures, adjacent to the mosque shall be removed /relocated shortly and the road leading from Ramban to Banihal 41 kms length, the land acquisition process is over and the possession of the land has been handed over to NHAI.
All structures and trees standing on the acquired land and along the road have been removed, except four structures in Ramsoo due to court cases. The four-laning work is in progress on the portion and NHAI has been urged to increase the pace of work on the 42 km stretch in a planned way.
Banihal Qazigund tunnel work is in its final stage and shall be ready for commissioning shortly. The work of fly-over bridges in Ramban and Banihal was also reviewed and construction companies were instructed to expedite the same in a planned way so that these are completed as per timelines. Further, the Deputy Commissioner has formed Sub Division level committees headed by concerned SDMs to monitor works of construction companies and to resolve issues of public as well as construction companies.
