REASI, Feb 19: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib today inaugurated the ‘Shaheed Smarak’ which was constructed here in the memory of Shaheed Kamal Kishore (Sgct), who sacrificed his life while fighting with the terrorists in 2018 in kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said Reasi had witnessed innumerable stories of bravery and courage and it is one of them. She lauded the efforts of locals for this initiative.
Rashmi Wazir, SSP Reasi highlighted the bravery, courage and valour of the Martyr Sgct. Kamal Kishore and paid rich tributes on the occasion. She said Jammu and Kashmir Police is a proud force which is contributing day in and day out in maintaining peace and harmony in the UT of J&K. She stressed upon the gathering especially youth present on the occasion to contribute in the maintenance of peace, sovereignty, communal harmony and choose the J&K Police Martyr’s like Sgct Kamal Kishore as their role models.
All speakers on the occasion appreciated Yog Raj Mengi who is the main person who remained actively involved in the construction of Shaheed Smarak with financial help of locals and his friends.
While paying tributes to the martyr, he said that this memorial is dedicated to Shaheed Kamal Kishore who made supreme sacrifice of his life to protect us from militants. He further said, “History of Reasi is full of stories of the valour and sacrifices including that of General Zorawar Singh.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Anil Katoch SSP, STC Talwara, PK Sharma -Commandant IRP, Saraf Singh Nag DDC Chairman Reasi, Shashi Puri, president MC Reasi, Councillors and prominent citizens.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shaheed Kamal Kishore was also conferred with Shaurya Chakra, posthumously for sacrificing his life while fighting the militants in 2018. He was from Gran Morh, Reasi.
