8 gamblers held

Srinagar, Feb 20: Awantipora Police today claimed to have arrested 8 gamblers from a gambling site while seizing Rs 54,200 stake money from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that a police party of Police Station Tral raided a gambling site at village Bajwani Kahlil Tral after following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 8 gamblers.
“They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Khanday resident of Amlar Tral, Mohd Iqbal Shah a resident of Tral-e-Payeen, Niyaz Ahmad Khan resident of Tral, Mohd Shafi Bhat a resident of Parigam, Mohd Shafi Mir resident of Tral, Hamid Masroor resident of Tral, Mohd Iqbal Kumar resident of Amlar, Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Noorpora,” police said.
Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of Rs 54,200 from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Tral where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tral and investigation has been initiated.
