JAMMU, Feb 20: In order to re-act to Government’s decision/orders regarding 22- 48 provisions of retirement and calling registration details of unions an emergent meeting of representatives of major trade unions/ EJACs/Associations was held here today under the banner of JK Government Employees Joint Action Forum which was presided over by Sushil Sudan.
They said amendment in the existing provisions of retirement and registration has sent panicky waves amongst the working class of the JKUT. More than 100 trade union leaders across JKUT attended the meeting. Senior leaders while addressing the meeting exhorted the employees to remain united as repressive measures of Government in the shape of daily circulars will be fought with full force .The rational of the Government in amending already existing provisions of 22-48 is not plausible as existing provisions are adequate to deal with all exigencies leading to application of this provision and amendment is aimed at to harass and intimidate employees. There is virtually no registration of unions by Government for the last more than a decade and in the face of it, calling details of unions is nothing but to muzzle the voice of employees.
The leaders unanimously rejected these orders and decided to apprise concerns of employees to the LG immediately. To chalk out further course of action a committee of Sushil Sudan, Eijaz Khan, Suresh Sharma, Mohd Rafiq Rather, Babu Hussain Malik and Ashish Sharma was constituted. They appealed all trade union leaders to get united for a general cause and participate in the coming meeting.
