Fire incidents: two minors charred, bus damaged

JAMMU, May 23: Two minors were charred, while a bus was damaged in two major fire incidents, which took place at various locations of the winter capital, here today.
As per reports, two minor sisters were burnt alive, when fire destroyed their hut in a slum cluster at Greater Kailash.
Due to short circuit, the hut of the migrant labourer Noor Alam, hailing from Uttar Pradesh caught fire.
At the time of incident, two minor daughters of Noor Alam, 2-year-old Nagma and 5-year-old Reshma were in the hut and duo received serious burn injuries.
On hearing their cries, the locals rushed to the spot and also informed the police and also fire tender was pressed into service to douse the flames.
The two minor sisters were taken out from the shanty and shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared Nagma as brought dead, while Reshma succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
The bodies of the duo were handed over to family members for last rites after completion of legal formalities, while Greater Kailash police has taken the cognizance.
Meanwhile, a video coach bus was damaged in a devastating fire outside Railway Station, here today.
The bus bearing registration number JKO2AQ-6939 got damaged when it suddenly caught fire at Railway Station, an official spokesman of Fire and Emergency Services Department said.
On getting information, fire tenders and fire fighters were pressed into service, but by that time, the bus has suffered around 70 per cent damage, he added.
To douse the flames, two fire tenders from Gandhi Nagar Fire Station were rushed to the spot, he said, adding that short circuit might be the reason behind the fire but could be ascertained after inquiry.
