Pensioners discuss demands

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 23: J&K State Pensioners Association, Jammu has sought amendment of rule 5.71 of J&K Treasury code to save them from undue inconvenience and fatigue.
In a  statement  issued, Krishan Singh, president, J&K State Pensioners Association said the State Government should amend the rule so that the  authorizing managers of J&K Bank branches along with the Treasury Officer  may release the  pension after conducting the annual physical verification instead of getting it from treasury.
He added that this will reduce the tension faced by the pensioners.  JKSPA recalled that previously also the pensioners /family pensioners of the State were asked by the Finance Department to do so. So far as Central Government pensioners are concerned they have the option to get annual physical verification done either from bank manager of treasury officers and even some other authorities have been authorized to do.
Moreover the association has asked the Finance Department to issue clear cut guidelines to enable the beneficiaries of pre 1-1-2006 pensioners/ family pensioners to file their cases for pensioner revision under Govt No. 57-f of 2013 relating to rationalization of pension of such pensioners.
The association has also pleaded for other pending demands.
