JAMMU, Feb 21: A special drive to check the quality of edible oil in market was conducted by Drugs and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) throughout the UT of J&K.
During this drive more than 100 samples of edible oil of about 30 different kinds viz. Mustard oil, Soya bean oil, Rice bran oil, Blended Vegetable oil etc. were lifted for analytical purpose. The services of Mobile Food Testing Van was also utilized to carry out on spot preliminary testing.
The Commissioner Food & Drugs Administration, J&K has directed all manufacturers/ packers of edible oil to carry out in house testing of every batch of edible oil before distribution of same in the market.
In case of violation, strict action under relevant provisions of law shall be initiated against the defaulters. The inspecting authorities have been directed to conduct online inspections of all Food business operators through FoSCoRIS portal, so that accountability & transparency is ensured at all levels.
