SRINAGAR, Feb 24: National Conference general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar today led party functionaries in offering floral tributes and Fateh prayers at the graveyard of Party stalwart Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his 6th death anniversary at his ancestral graveyard at Malik Sahib Shrine in Soura.
Among others, Central secretary Irfan Ahmed Shah, provincial secretary Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir, district president Srinagar Peer Afaq Ahmed, YNC provincial president Salman Ali Sagar and scores of YNC & parent body functionaries also participated in the Fateh Khawani. The occasion was marked by recitals of verses from the holy Quran.
Addressing the party functionaries, the Party general secretary said that the sincerity, conviction, perseverance and idealism, virtues which are rare in new breed of politicians formed the template of Nazir Sahib’s personal life and politics. He said that the late leader was brought up in the mould of Sher-e-Kashmir ideology. “He was a pillar of strength for the party. He was looked up to for inspiration by all of us in the party. The best tribute to him on his death anniversary would be imbibing the zest with which he served the party,” he said.
Later, Party president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah, who was in Jammu, reached Srinagar in the afternoon and straightway set out to offer floral tributes and Fateh at the final resting place of Sheikh Nazir Ahmed. The Party president offered floral tributes and Fateh at the graveyard and prayed to Almighty to raise the stations of the late leader in the highest echelons of Jannat.
On the occasion he said, “Uncompromising on his principles and beliefs, which he had inherited from Sher-e-Kashmir, and Madr-e-Meharban, he was a strong spirited person. His matchless contribution towards strengthening the party will be remembered for all the times to come. A statesman to his core, he stood for his principles until his last breath.”
Earnest tributes and homage was also paid to Sheikh Nazir Sahib at Party’s Jammu headquarter Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, by additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal and the party functionaries. Resounding tributes were paid to the late leader at all district headquarters across Jammu and Kashmir.
