Lok Adalat awards over Rs 27 lakh compensation

JAMMU, May 24: A Mega Lok Adalat was organised under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua, M K Hanjura at the District Headquarters and in the Tehsil Headquarters of district Kathua.
At District Headquarers Kathua, several MACT and Bank cases were taken up for amicable settlement. A total of 16 MACT cases were disposed off  and compensation to the tune of Rs 27,14,000  was awarded to the claimants.
Similarly, 3 civil cases were amicably  settled at the pre-litigation stage. The Bench comprised of M K Hanjura, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua and S C Katal, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua.
A bench comprising Mobile Magistrate Kathua and Munsiff Kathua was constituted to deal with criminal cases and cases under Section 488 CrPC. The bench decided 11 cases.
In a Lok Adalat held in the court premises of Munsiff Hiranager, two civil and 13 criminal cases, were  settled. As a part of Mega Lok Adalat week, a bench comprising of the CJM, Kathua and the Mobile Magistrate Kathua was constituted and one criminal case   was disposed of in this LokAdalat at Mahanpur.
A bench comprising Munsiff Basholi decided one case of criminal nature  in the Lok Adalat held at Basholi. Similarly, a bench comprising Munsiff Billawar decided   five cases of criminal nature.
