Chilli, turmeric remain weak on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, May 25:  Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today owing to subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Red chilli and turmeric prices fell further by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 5,800-11,300 and Rs 6,900-12,400 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.

The following are today’s quotations per quintal:

Ajwain 10,500-17,000, black pepper (per kg) 340-460, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 970-1,000 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,000-1,100.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 645-745, cardamom (colour robin) 595-695, cardamom bold 645-695, cardamom extra (bold) 795-895 and cloves (kg) 650-775.
