JAMMU, Mar 1: The residents of Bharat Nagar lodged a protest against Jal Shakti Department over acute shortage of drinking water in the area for almost 10 days.
Besides, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has closed all the entry points of Bharat Nagar as some drain construction is going on in the area. With the result, people cannot even buy water tankers from private players. The shortage of water has terribly hit the day to day life of residents in the area.
As Jal Shakti Department authorities failed to redress the grievances, the people were left with no option then to lodge protests.
The protesters which included women and children warned the authorities that in case issue is not redressed at the earliest, the agitation would be further intensified, and Jal Shakti Department will be responsible for any untoward incident.
