Police rescues 25 bovine animals

SAMBA, Mar 1: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, Samba and Kathua police foiled two separate attempts to smuggle bovine in their respective areas and rescued 25 bovine animals.
As per reports Police Station Samba rescued 16 bovines at naka point Rakh Amb-Tali, in its jurisdiction today.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley, a police party of Police Post, Rakh Amb-Tali laid at a Naka at Rakh Amb-Tali Chowk while checking a truck bearing registration number, JK05B-5545 which was coming via Boder road and heading towards Samba found it loaded with 16 bovine animals.
The driver on seeing the police at naka managed to escape from spot taking advantage of darkness.
All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 71/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba.
Meanwhile, District Police Kathua succeeded in foiling a bovine smuggling bid in its jurisdictional area near Satkey Chak and rescued nine bovines and the water tanker involved in the commission of the crime was also seized.
A rare type of bovine smuggling bid was noticed in which a tanker was used for illegal transportation of animals.
A police team of PS Kathua under the supervision of SHO, Vijay Kumar while on Naka checking duty near Satkey Chak intercepted a water tanker bearing registration number, JK02AD-5569 and on seeing police party, the driver stopped the tanker far behind the naka point and fled away from the spot.
During checking of the tanker nine bovines were found loaded inside the tanker.
A case vide FIR No. 100/2021 Under Sections 188 IPC,11 PCA Act has been registered in PS Kathua and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
