Police seizes 5 grams of heroin, 7 kgs of Ganja; arrests 4

Inter-State smugglers gang busted

KATHUA, Mar 1: District police Kathua today recovered five grams of heroin like substance. The contraband was seized by Police Post (PP), Nagri and the accused was arrested.
A joint team of Anti Drug Unit Kathua and police team of PP Nagri established a naka in its jurisdictional area at Changran Morh Kathua. During the naka, one suspicious person was apprehended who was later identified as Rohit, son of Raghubir Singh of Ward No.7, Kathua.
During his personal search, five grams of heroin like contraband was recovered from his illegal possession. Later on, the accused was arrested .
On this, a case Fir No 97/2021 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered in concerned Police Station and investigation has been taken up.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Dy SP Hqs, Bishem Dubey.
Meanwhile, district police Kathua in its recent action against illegal drug dealings busted an Inter-State drug smuggling racket in which two non locals hailing from Bihar were arrested along with conduit hailing from Samba and recovered seven Kilograms of Ganja like contraband in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua and three accused were arrested along with the seized contraband on the spot.
A joint team of Anti Drug Unit Kathua and PS Kathua during naka checking at Railway Station Kathua apprehended three persons who tried to escape by concealing themselves along with the contraband. They were identified as Dharamjeet Kumar, son of Sakal Day of Rampur Police Station Raghavpur district Vishali,Bihar, Pachu Ray, son of Jhanka Ray, of Rampur district, Vishali,Bihar and Rajinder Kumar, son of Sewa Ram of Bari Brahmana district, Samba.
On physical search the respective police team recovered seven kilograms of Ganja like contraband substance from their possession.
Consequently, all the accused were arrested who were involved in commission of the crime and contraband was also seized by the police party.
A case FIR No. 99/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in concerned Police Station and further investigation is under process. More arrests in this case cannot be ruled out, Police said. The arrests were made under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua, Bishem Dubey.
The Kathua police under the directives of SSP Shailendra Mishra has intensified the drive against smugglers and drug peddlers in the district.
