NIA takes over LeM chief’s arrest case

JAMMU, Mar 2: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) today took over investigations in the case pertaining to arrest of Hidayatullah Malik, chief of Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) outfit, who was nabbed by police and Special Operations Group (SOG) from Digiana last month.
Subsequently, his wife, who was LLM student in Kashmir University, was also arrested from the City.
The NIA today took over investigations in the case from Gangyal police station where the case had been registered initially in the arrest of Hidayatullah Malik.
At the time of arrest, police had recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from the possession of Malik, who had reached Jammu to revive militant activities. He had also conducted recce of some sensitive installations in New Delhi.
His outfit had committed daylight bank robbery in which Rs 60 lakh had been looted from Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s Shopian Main Branch in November 2020.
